Gympie Arterial Road and Murphy Road intersection, Downfall Creek Bridge, planning
Up to 67,000 vehicles travel each weekday between the northern suburbs and inner Brisbane, crossing Downfall Creek on Gympie Arterial Road at Chermside.
Planning is underway to upgrade Downfall Creek structures, some of which date back to 1927. Potential upgrades to the adjacent Gympie Arterial Road and Murphy Road intersection are also being considered.
The project aims to:
- identify improvements to traffic efficiency and safety
- provide better facilities for public and active transport users
- improve road network reliability
- future-proof the carriageway.
