Kennedy Developmental Road—(The Lynd-Hughenden) upgrade

The department has delivered 48km of new sealing along the Kennedy Developmental Road between The Lynd to Hughenden.

The department has completed 48km of additional sealing of previously unsealed sections between The Lynd and Hughenden.

The Kennedy Developmental Road is an important inter-regional route for western and northern Queensland. It links western communities of Boulia, Winton, Hughenden through to The Lynd and Mount Garnett in the north. The route is a vital transport link for the movement of cattle through the North West Region and tourism access.

The works were delivered by both Flinders Shire Council and Etheridge Shire Council.

The current project followed the previous $50 million Northern Australia Roads Program project that delivered 42km of progressive sealing in early 2020.

With a total of 90km of progressive sealing now complete, only a single, 10.8km section of unsealed road remains along the Kennedy Developmental Road.
