Mareeba – Dimbulah Road, Mareeba Heavy Vehicle Bypass, planning
The planning for the Mareeba – Dimbulah Road, Mareeba Heavy Vehicle Bypass focused on progressing the southern section of the bypass and reviewing the alignment of the northern section.
Mareeba, located approximately 60km to the west of Cairns in Far North Queensland, serves as a crossroads for the Mareeba - Dimbulah Road, Mulligan Highway and Kennedy Highway. Currently, all through traffic, including heavy vehicles, travel via Mareeba's main street, Byrnes Street (the local name for Mareeba – Dimbulah Road).
In 2018, planning for the northern section of the Mareeba Bypass was completed.
This current planning stage examined the full length of the heavy vehicle bypass and confirmed the optimal alignment to the west of Mareeba.
