New England Highway (Yarraman – Toowoomba), Chalk Drive, Neil Street and Ruthven Street intersections, improve active transport facilities

Design is underway to improve safety for people walking and bike riding when crossing at the Chalk Drive, Ruthven and Victoria streets intersection and the Chalk Drive and Neil Street intersection.

This project aims to improve facilities for active transport users to encourage more people to walk or ride a bike in Toowoomba.

Design work will consider upgrading and installing new signalised crossings, lighting and kerb ramps, and widening the shared path to maximise safety and maneuverability for people walking and bike riding.

Funding

This project is a planned investment and is jointly funded through the Australian Government’s Active Transport Fund (ATF) and Queensland Government’s Active Transport Investment Program (ATIP).

The Queensland Government is currently consulting with local property and business owners, and active transport users to inform the design.
