Pialba–Burrum Heads Road, O’Regan Creek, upgrade existing floodway

This upgrade will improve flood resilience for Hervey Bay and surrounding communities and involves pavement realignment, widening and culvert upgrades.

Pialba-Burrum Heads Road, O'Regan Creek, is being upgraded to improve flood immunity. Work will take place on approximately 1.65km of road from Mitchell Avenue in the southeast to Toogoom Cane Road in the northwest. During floods, a low section of the road gets submerged under O'Regan Creek, but this project aims to reduce road closures during floods. To achieve this, hydraulic studies, terrain modelling, geotechnical investigations, surveys, and environmental studies will be conducted to inform the detailed design.
