Toowoomba City Cycle Paths, Karrool Street and Goode Street, construct active transport facilities

The Queensland Government has successfully completed the Toowoomba City Cycle Paths project. This project, delivered under the Active Transport Investment Program, has transformed Karrool Street and Goode Street into safer, more accessible, and connected transport routes for pedestrians and cyclists.

By linking Anzac Avenue and Glenvale Road, the upgrades provide a vital connection within the Principal Cycle Network, which serves as key route, between Toowoomba’s city centre and western suburbs. The improvements aim to encourage active travel, reduce congestion, and enhance safety for all road users.

What is a safe active street?

Safe active streets provide a welcoming environment for people to travel actively on local streets away from busy main roads.

They have a speed limit of between 30km/h and 50km/h, low traffic volumes and use pavement markings and textures to encourage people riding and driving to travel within a central shared lane and to safely share the space.

In Queensland, safe active streets are also called ‘cycle streets.’
