Dunwich (Gumpi) Ferry Terminal Upgrade

Planning is progressing to improve access and create a sense of arrival to North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah) by upgrading the ferry terminal at Junner Street, Dunwich (Gumpi).

Under the South East Queensland (SEQ) City Deal, the Australian Government, Queensland Government, and Council of Mayors (SEQ) committed to upgrade the ferry terminal at Junner Street, Dunwich (Gumpi). The upgraded infrastructure and services will improve connectivity and promote tourism to the island.

The Gumpi Master Plan, finalised in December 2023, outlines a shared, long-term vision for the future of Dunwich (Gumpi) that will inform considerations for the ferry terminal upgrade.

The Dunwich (Gumpi) Ferry Terminal Upgrade project is investigating ways to improve how the ferry terminal is used, experienced and integrated with the surrounding area. This will include improvements to landscaping and the safety, accessibility, legibility and efficiency of the ferry terminal.
