Richmond-Winton Road, pave and seal

Another 3km of the road has been sealed to improve safety and travel times on this key transport link.

The Richmond-Winton Road connects cattle properties to major freight routes, such as the Landsborough and Flinders highways. It is also an important gateway for the tourism industry, helping visitors explore outback Queensland.

The road is 145km long and is made up of sealed and unsealed sections.

Two projects were completed between March 2021 to June 2022, sealing 13km of the road. Works started in May 2023 and were completed in October 2023.

Funding

The 3 projects were funded separately: Richmond-Winton Road, pave and seal – $5.39 million. Funded under Tranche 1 of the Road Safety Program ($4.312 million Australian Government; $1.078 million Queensland Government). Richmond-Winton Road (Section 2), pave and seal – $4.88 million. Funded under Tranche 2 of the Road Safety Program ($3.904 million Australian Government; $976,000 Queensland Government). Richmond-Winton Road, pave and seal – $2.398 million. Fully funded by the Queensland Government under its Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme. Investment ID 2109167
