Veloway 1, Pacific Motorway

The Veloway (V1) is a dedicated cycleway designed to connect people riding bikes between the City and Eight Mile Plains, adjacent to the Pacific Motorway.

The 17 kilometre cycleway will provide a safe and efficient route for people riding bikes.

Upgrades to the V1 are being made in stages to remove multiple road crossings, and improve safety where on road crossings still exist.

The V1 connects to Southbank at Lower River Terrace at South Brisbane and continues through to the Gateway Motorway off-ramp at Eight Mile Plains.

Cycling is not just a transport issue – it has significant benefits for health, the environment and tourism. A high-quality dedicated bikeway will encourage more cycling, more often, for riders of all ages and abilities.

Separated facilities reduce the need for interaction between motorists and people riding bikes on roads. This improves the safety, comfort, amenity and travel time for everyone.

The V1 provides better connectivity to the local bike networks, hospitals, shopping centres, education facilities and public transport hubs.
