Bruce Highway (Mackay – Proserpine), Goorganga overtaking lanes

Construction is underway for around 2km of overtaking opportunities and upgrades to pavement and lighting at the Gunyarra Road intersection.

Between Mackay and Proserpine, the Bruce Highway is experiencing increasing traffic demand.

As part of ongoing efforts to improve safety and increase capacity on the Bruce Highway, new dual overtaking lanes will be constructed approximately 10km south of Proserpine. These lanes, spanning around 2km, aim to provide safer overtaking opportunities and reduce travel times, contributing to a more efficient and reliable transport network for all road users.
