Moggill Sub-Arterial Road and Brookfield Road (Kenmore) intersection upgrade (Kenmore roundabout)

In 2021, an upgrade was proposed for the Kenmore roundabout at the intersection of Moggill Road and Brookfield Road in Kenmore. The upgrade proposed removing the roundabout and signalising the intersection, and also included provision for active transport users.

Community consultation occurred in April 2021 and 94% of respondents to the consultation were unsupportive of changing the roundabout to a signalised intersection. The department is continuing to investigate options for the Moggill Road corridor, including improving active transport facilities through Kenmore.

Smart crossings will be installed at the existing signalised pedestrian crossing on Brookfield Road at Kenmore Village and on Moggill Road at Kenmore State School to assist with congestion in the area. Smart crossings use sensors to detect pedestrian movement and automatically adjust the amount of time required to cross, allowing pedestrians to cross safely without having to rush. For motorists it means less waiting when there are fewer pedestrians using the crossing. This work is expected to be completed in mid-2023.
