The department is undertaking the rehabilitation and maintenance program for the Burdekin River Bridge to preserve the structural integrity of the bridge. The ongoing program will ensure a safe and durable crossing is maintained for the long-term use of vehicles, heavy transport operators, rail operations, bicycle riders and pedestrians.
Rosslyn Bay State Boat Harbour is a key strategic maritime asset on the Capricorn coast, providing deep water access for recreational boaties, supporting commercial and community maritime activities and gateway to Great Keppel Island (Woppa).
Planning works are being finalised to upgrade and expand the southern side of the park 'n' ride at Bald Hills station.
We have investigated safety and congestion improvements for the Banyo level crossing precinct.
An additional 5km of Barcaldine-Aramac Road has been widened to improve travel conditions.
The Beams Road rail level crossing project will reduce congestion and address safety concerns. The current rail level crossing on Beams Road will be replaced with an overpass to separate road and rail.
Beaudesert – Nerang Road, Yalkuri Drive and Willawong Crescent intersection has been upgraded with traffic signals to improve safety and operational functionality. This also includes on-road designated and shared bicycle infrastructure.
This project will duplicate Beaudesert–Beenleigh Road between Mount Warren Boulevard and Tallagandra Road.

The intersection of Beerburrum Road, Twin View Road, and English Street in Elimbah is being upgraded as part of the Queensland Government's Targeted Road Safety Program. The upgrade will include the installation of traffic signals to improve safety and provide safer turning movements and crossing opportunities for all road users.
The Beerburrum to Nambour (B2N) Rail Upgrade (Stage 1) project will increase the capacity and reliability of the North Coast Line, enabling more efficient travel and improved passenger and freight connections between the Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay, Brisbane and beyond.

This project widened the 11km stretch of the Bruce Highway from 4 to 6 lanes between Caboolture-Bribie Island Road and Steve Irwin Way (Exit 163). This also included upgrading creek crossings to improve flood immunity at Lagoon, King Johns, Six Mile, Un-named and Beerburrum Creeks.
The Queensland Government is upgrading the Bruce Highway, where it joins the Gateway Motorway and Gympie Arterial Road, south of the Pine River to improve traffic flow and safety.

The Caboolture-Dakabin Station Access Study seeks to improve access to and around Caboolture, Morayfield, Burpengary, Narangba and Dakabin train stations.
A business case has been completed, and the project is now progressing through the detailed design phase for the new Bribie Island Bridge
The Cairns Bruce Highway Upgrade master plan was released in 2010. It was the result of a planning study that investigated long term, multi-modal transport planning options to address the impacts of urban growth, congestion and traffic accidents.
The Department is progressively delivering a safe off-road facility for bike riders of all abilities, including school children and the bike riding and walking (active transport) community. The new cycleway delivers a direct and continuous route with limited intersections to encourage bike riders to use the off-road facility.
Cairns Transit Network is the first busway planning project of its kind in regional Queensland. It will improve public transport in Cairns by giving buses priority, either in separate bus lanes or on dedicated bus-only lanes (busways) which will be separated from general traffic.
By 2046, the Cairns local government area is expected to increase by approximately 59,000 residents. In addition to the substantial visitor numbers in the region, this significant residential growth will have an impact on the safety, efficiency and accessibility of the Cairns urban transport network.
Taking a holistic approach to the planning of this expected growth will ensure a sustainable, efficient and accessible transport network in the region.
The Queensland Government is undertaking a $300 million project to duplicate the Cairns Western Arterial Road between Redlynch Connector Road and Captain Cook Highway. This upgrade will transform the road into a 4-lane carriageway, improving safety, capacity, and traffic flow for the region.
The department is conducting a planning study for the Cairns Western Arterial Road to identify future upgrades that will improve safety, capacity, and transport efficiency. The study area spans the entire length of the Cairns Western Arterial Road, from the Captain Cook Highway to Mulgrave Road, and includes the proposed Bruce Highway, Cairns Southern Access Corridor (Stage 6), Earlville Bypass.
Preliminary planning is underway to investigate a future upgrade at the Caloundra Road and Bellvista Boulevard intersection in Little Mountain.
The Queensland Government is progressing with a major upgrade of the Caloundra Road, Kawana Way Link Road, and Bells Creek Arterial Road intersection to deliver significant congestion relief and safety improvements for the Sunshine Coast region.
The department has started planning for an off-road cycle link along approximately 3.5km of Caloundra Road.

The Cape York Region Package Stage 2 is a program of works to deliver infrastructure upgrades on the Cape York Peninsula between 2019-20 and 2024-25.
The Capricorn Highway is a key freight route and supports a wide range of industries including agriculture, resources and mining. It plays an important role in connecting Rockhampton with central and western communities in Queensland.
The Captain Cook Highway is undergoing extensive reconstruction to address the significant damage caused by Tropical Cyclone Jasper in December 2023.

The Carnarvon Highway (Injune - Rolleston), Baffle Creek bridge upgrade project will improve safety and network efficiency by widening the bridge approaches and the existing bridge structure.
The Queensland Government has improved safety and network efficiency by replacing the 3 major culverts with larger structures and widening the pavement to 10m approximately 6km north of Roma.
The Queensland Government is replacing the Surat Bridge, which crosses the Balonne River on the Carnarvon Highway.
The Centenary Bridge Upgrade in Jindalee will upgrade the river crossing from 4 to 6 lanes by building a new 3-lane northbound bridge and rehabilitating the existing bridges to 3 lanes southbound.
The department is undertaking a range of planning activities on the Centenary Motorway between Darra and Yamanto.
The department worked with Ipswich City Council to upgrade the Centenary Motorway exit ramp (Exit 32), and the Main Street and Springfield Greenbank Arterial Road intersection, to manage congestion and improve safety at the exit ramp.

Coomera Connector (Future Stages), between Loganholme and Coomera, is around 29km and will connect with Coomera Connector Stage 1.
Stage 2 of the Coomera Connector, between Pimpama and Coomera, is around 5km and is the next priority section for planning and design.
Stage 1 Central of the Coomera Connector is the 8km section from Helensvale Road to Smith Street Motorway.
Stage 1 North of the Coomera Connector is the 4km section from Shipper Drive to Helensvale Road.
Stage 1 South of the Coomera Connector is the 4km section from Smith Street Motorway to Nerang-Broadbeach Road.
Stage 1 of the Coomera Connector, between Coomera and Nerang, is around 16km and is now open to traffic between Shipper Drive and Helensvale Road.
The Buaraba Creek timber bridge replacement project will improve safety and network reliability by replacing the existing narrow, timber bridge (Neithe Bridge) with a new wider, two-lane, concrete structure in the same location.
The Queensland Government is committed to improving safety, traffic flow, and active transport options at the intersections of Diamond and Elm Streets and Myall and Elm Streets in Cooroy.
