QTMP will deliver supporting infrastructure, including road upgrades, rail connection works, train testing infrastructure, additional train stabling and signalling upgrades. This will ensure integration with the existing rail network, delivered by us and Queensland Rail.

Goldmine Road upgrade

Current status

In August 2024, we announced that Goldmine Road will be jointly upgraded by TMR and City of Gold Coast to meet current road standards and improve safety, traffic flow, active transport and flood resilience.

Stage one of the upgrade was completed in July 2025.

As part of the second stage of the upgrade, QTMP will deliver the new Ormeau rail facility entrance and a new signalised intersection to be located on Goldmine Road.

The design for the next stage of the upgrade is now available. Construction of the upgrade commenced in early 2026.

As construction progresses, we will continue to provide regular updates to key stakeholders and the local community about what to expect in advance of works commencing.

Network connection works

Works are underway to connect the Torbanlea train manufacturing facility and Ormeau rail facility into the existing rail line.
