Toowoomba–Cecil Plains Road, improve safety
Toowoomba-Cecil Plains Road is a critical transport route for the Darling Downs region, connecting agricultural communities to markets and essential services.
To improve safety and traffic flow, a range of upgrades are being implemented to reduce the risk of crashes and enhance the driving experience of all road users.
In 2024, local residents and community members were consulted to identify concerns and gather ideas for improving the road. Feedback from this consultation has been incorporated into the final project design to ensure it addresses community needs.
Benefits

Key features
Installation of guardrails in key locations to reduce run-off road crashes.
Widening road shoulders in some locations to increase width of lanes and provide larger roadside clearances.
Audio tactile line marking on the centre line and edge lines through high-speed sections.
Improving visibility and safety of the roadside environment by clearing vegetation and removing hazards.
Installing advanced intersection warning signs and flag lighting at key intersections.
Installation of dedicated left and right turn lanes on Toowoomba-Cecil Plains Road and realignment of Jondaryn-Mount Tyson Road intersection so that the two T-junctions are not directly opposite each other.
