Warrego Highway Upgrade Strategy

Front cover of the Warrego Highway Upgrade StrategyThe Warrego Highway between Brisbane and Charleville is the state's vital east-west freight artery, transporting people and freight from Toowoomba to Brisbane and southern Queensland, central and western New South Wales and Victoria (via the Gore Highway) and the Northern Territory (via the Landsborough and Barkly Highways).

The state government has identified 41 short, medium and long-term investment priorities over the next 20 years to ensure one of the state’s most vital pieces of transport infrastructure continues to serve regional Queensland for decades to come.

With the growing energy sector in the Surat Basin region, additional traffic will put further pressure on this critical 714km highway. The construction of additional overtaking lanes, the upgrading of intersections and widening of the highway in various locations, and the construction of the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing, are key priorities in the strategy.

The strategy is available as a PDF. As the document is large, it has been broken down into chapters.
