The Coomera Connector (M9) is a 45km north-south future motorway between Loganholme and Nerang, east of the Pacific Motorway (M1) and heavy rail line.
Coomera Connector Stage 1 South
Stage 1 South of the Coomera Connector is the 4km section from Smith Street Motorway to Nerang-Broadbeach Road.
The Coomera Connector (M9) is a future state-controlled north-south transport corridor between Loganholme and Nerang, east of the Pacific Motorway (M1) and the heavy train line.

Key features
This 4km section of the project will have:
- a grade-separated interchange at Southport-Nerang Road
- a new intersection at Nerang-Broadbeach Road
- a new 300m bridge structure over the Nerang River
- 4km of shared walking and bike riding path with local network connections for communities at Molendinar and Nerang
- open-graded asphalt road surface for increased safety and reduced noise.
Funding
The Stage 1 project is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments. Funding contributions subject to further negotiation with the Australian Government.

Current status
Construction is underway.
Stage 1 South key milestones
- August 2022: Design contract awarded and site investigations started.
- November 2023 Design released for public consultation.
- March 2025: Main works contract awarded.
- June 2025: Main construction works started.
