Coomera Connector (Stage 1), Coomera to Nerang
The Stage 1 section of the Coomera Connector between Coomera and Nerang is around 16km and has been identified as the priority section to be built first.
Early works and main construction are now underway for the Coomera Connector Stage 1 South package from Smith Street Motorway to Nerang-Broadbeach Road.
The Stage 1 South package connects from the Stage 1 Central interface near Smith Street Motorway to a new interchange at Southport-Nerang Road, before crossing the Nerang River and finishing at a new intersection with Nerang-Broadbeach Road, near Chisholm Drive.
This 4km section of the project will have:
The Stage 1 project is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments. Investment ID 1776678
Early works and main construction are now simultaneously underway, with the early works package expected to be completed in late 2025.
A contract for the main construction works was awarded to Seymour Whyte Constructions Pty Ltd on 31 March 2025.
Seymour Whyte will work closely with the early works contractor, Winslow Infrastructure Pty Ltd, to ensure construction activities are coordinated and seamless. While Winslow will continue with significant bulk earthworks and preloading activities south of the Nerang River, Seymour Whyte will, in the immediate term, focus on activities north of the river.
Once new embankments have settled from the preloading activities, Seymour Whyte will then continue with main construction activities south of the Nerang River.
Design layouts for the Stage 1 South package from Molendinar to Nerang were released on 20 November 2023.
