Gillies Range Road (Tablelands Regional Council) 2024 Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements reconstruction works

Critical slope reconstruction work is currently underway on 5 upslope and downslope slip sites, with repairs to more sites to commence during 2026.

Works include permanent geotechnical solutions like soil nailing, erosion control mesh, reshaping embankments, clearing table drains, and removing loose materials, to reinstate the road to its pre-disaster function.

Key stabilisation measures include:

  • strengthening slopes to prevent erosion and landslides
  • installing advanced soil anchoring systems for enhanced stability
  • constructing durable rock and concrete retaining walls

Additional works will include resurfacing damaged sections of the road, repairing culverts, restoring drainage systems, and replacing or fixing road signs and barriers.
