Adding a vehicle type inspection code
If you obtain additional qualifications or industry experience, you may choose to add a vehicle type inspection code to your approved examiner accreditation. To add a vehicle type inspection code:
- complete the relevant sections of the Approved Examiner Application – Approved Inspection Station Scheme (form F2339)
- you must complete the inspection modules for the vehicle inspection types that you are applying for to add to your accreditation. Read about training requirements for new applicants.
- attach a copy of your relevant trade qualification (if necessary)
- attach a copy of your migration skills assessment outcome letter, if this applies to you
- attach current or previous employer reference/s verifying your continuous 12-month industry work experience, within Australia, in repairing and maintaining the vehicle type/s you are applying for. Refer to Approved examiner qualification and experience requirements
- lodge your application directly with the Approved Inspection Station (AIS) Administrator (there is no application fee required).
Changing your contact details
If your contact details change (such as your residential or mailing address, email address, mobile or phone number) you must notify the AIS Administrator within 14 days after the change occurs.
Applying for a replacement approved examiner accreditation document
If your approved examiner accreditation document has been damaged, lost or stolen, you must notify the AIS Administrator within 14 days.
To notify the AIS administrator, provide your:
- full name
- customer reference number—your Queensland driver licence number
- approved examiner accreditation number
- residential address (if applicable)
- postal address (if applicable)
- email address (if applicable)
- daytime contact phone or mobile number (if applicable).
You can notify the AIS Administrator and request a replacement accreditation document at no cost.
Voluntarily surrendering your approved examiner accreditation
If you no longer wish to hold your approved examiner accreditation, you must notify the AIS Administrator within 14 days. Once you have surrendered your approved examiner accreditation, you cannot inspect vehicles for the purpose of issuing an inspection certificate.
If you decide to reapply for your approved examiner accreditation you will be required to lodge a new AIS application.
Application and decision-making process
An application to change an approved examiner accreditation can be granted or refused. We will notify you in writing of the outcome of your application. If we require further information you will be contacted by email or phone. If your application is approved, we will provide you with an modified approved examiner document. If we refuse your application, we will provide you with an information notice with reasons why your application has been refused and your appeal options.
