Bruce Highway (Rockhampton – St Lawrence), Neilsen Avenue to Plentiful Creek, improve safety
Safety improvements are being delivered on the Bruce Highway between Terranova Drive and Etna Creek Road, North of Rockhampton.
There are 3 packages of works that include wide centre line treatment, shoulder widening and removal of hazards.
This project has been identified as part of the program of works to reduce the number of fatal and serious injury crashes on the Bruce Highway.
Safety for all road users is being improved by incorporating wide centre line treatment, road widening, roadside treatments, removal of hazards and intersection improvements.
Project locations north of Rockhampton include:
- Terranova Drive to Angela Road
- Angela Road to Greenlake Road
- Greenlake Road and Dawson Road intersections
- Greenlake Road – Meldrum Road
- Meldrum Road – Etna Creek Road.
The project includes installing approximately 6km of wide centre line treatment, road widening and realignment of Dawson Road and Greenlake Road intersections.
The project includes 3 packages of work:
Package 1 – Wide centre line treatment, shoulder widening, pavement rehabilitation and safety improvements between Angela Road and Etna Creek Road.
Package 2 – Realignment of Dawson Road and Greenlake Road intersections to form staggered T-junctions with the Bruce Highway.
Package 3 – Wide centre line treatment, pavement rehabilitation and safety improvements between Terranova Drive and Angela Road.

This package is jointly funded by the Australian Government ($4.4 million) and Queensland Government ($1.1 million) under the Australian Government Road Safety Program.
Package 3 – Bruce Highway (Rockhampton – St Lawrence) Neilsen Avenue (Site 6), widen and safer roadsides
This package is jointly funded by the Australian Government ($4.4 million) and Queensland Government ($1.1 million) under the Australian Government Road Safety Program.
