An easier way to find bike riding information online

The bicycle riding page on the Queensland Government website helps Queenslanders learn more about bike riding rules, events, and how to get started.

Overview

Action 2.11 Provide easy access to information on riding in Queensland on the Queensland Government website.

Lead agency: Department of Transport and Main Roads

Status: Complete

Achievements

We conducted a major revamp of bike riding content on the Queensland Government website. Queenslanders can now find and access comprehensive, up-to-date, and easy to read information and resources about riding a bike in Queensland in one central online location.

The revamped website pages:

  • fill gaps in information about safety, where to ride, getting started with riding and the benefits of riding
  • improve the visibility of bike riding content and make sure it is logically organised and easily located
  • include links to connect Queenslanders to localised bike riding content hosted on council and community organisation websites.

The revamp complements improvements to bike riding content on the Department of Transport and Main Roads website. The improvements make it easier for industry, councils and non-government organisations to find strategic information, technical guidance, cycling infrastructure and departmental information.

Next steps

We will regularly review the Queensland Government website to:

  • make sure content and links remain current
  • look for ways to enhance online information and resources to support Queenslanders to start riding or to ride more often.

We will also maintain the TMR Cycling web pages to ensure they are user-friendly and meet the needs of industry, councils and non-government organisations.
