Action 2.7: Support individuals and communities in need, through a range of initiatives, to participate in physical activity including bicycle riding.

Achievements

Between August 2020 and September 2022, we funded individuals, sport and active recreation organisations and communities to participate in bike riding or deliver activities that encourage bike riding.

Our funding programs included:

  • Active Clubs Round 2 – Local and regional organisations delivered 28 projects to give Queenslanders safe and flexible opportunities to ride bikes
  • Active Restart Infrastructure Recovery Fund Round 1 – Not-for-profit organisations delivered 32 projects for Queenslanders to get back to bike riding after COVID-19
  • COVID SAFE Active Clubs Kickstart Round 2 – The program funded 25 projects to help not-for-profit organisations to continue delivering or restart bike riding activities to the Queensland community after COVID-19
  • Sport and Recreation Disaster Recovery Program Level 1 – Not-for-profit organisations delivered 20 projects re-establishing BMX and mountain bike riding facilities and activities after extreme natural events
  • Active Gameday Projects Fund – The program supported sport and active recreation industry recovery through four smaller scale infrastructure projects that benefit local communities
  • Emerging Athlete Pathways – This program subsidised 47 individuals to attend championship events, helping develop young athletes and elite athlete pathways
  • FairPlay Vouchers – Financial support was provided to help 471 Queensland children participate in bike riding, BMX and mountain bike riding
  • Active Industry Fund – AusCycling was supported to deliver quality and inclusive participation opportunities.
