Action 1.10: Trial innovative cycling infrastructure to inform the development of technical guidance, including:

• safety fencing
• physical separation devices
• advisory treatments.

Achievements

New guidance is now available about how to incorporate innovative treatments in the planning and designing of bicycle riding infrastructure.

We have published new technical guidance on fencing and edging treatments for cycling infrastructure.

A feasibility study has been completed to identify trial sites to test each treatment. These recommendations have been provided to local governments for consideration.

Next steps

We will improve access to and promote technical guidance to improve capability in planning and designing cycling infrastructure.
