Achievements

We are making it easier for people to find their way while riding a bike on our extensive and growing cycling networks across the state.

We have published guidance to support practitioners to provide high-quality and consistent wayfinding signage on cycling networks.

Wayfinding signage alerts people to the presence of cycling facilities and ensures they can navigate these facilities once they are on them.

The guidance supports practitioners to understand the benefits of signage, process for signing cycling networks, sign types and information to include on signs.

Wayfinding signage is an essential component of cycling networks and will help the growing number of Queenslanders riding make full use of cycling infrastructure available.

Investment in new wayfinding signs is part of our $6.91 million commitment towards rehabilitation of state-controlled off-road cycleways between 2017-18 and 2020-21.

More than 120 new signs have been installed on the Veloway 1 (V1) Cycleway from Eight Mile Plains to Brisbane City, helping riders to make full use of this world class facility.

A further 100 new wayfinding signs have been installed on the Centenary Cycleway covering a distance of more than 16km from Carole Park to Toowong.

Local governments can apply for state matched funding to deliver wayfinding signage on the principal cycle network through the Cycle Network Local Government Grants program.
