Achievements
More than 140 planners and engineers across Queensland have participated in technical training courses to assist them in the planning and design of safe cycling infrastructure.
Over the past 2 years, we have delivered 12 training courses to improve knowledge and capability in how to plan, design and build cycling infrastructure that keeps people walking and bicycle riding as safe as possible on our transport network.
Topics include:
- building separated bicycle riding tracks
- designing with bicycle riders and walkers in mind
- building bicycle and pedestrian crossings and bridges.
By better educating those who plan, design, operate and build cycling infrastructure, we are improving the quality of bikeway operations, planning, design and investing in people’s capability for a safer future for our vulnerable road users in Queensland.
Next steps
Further courses will be held across Queensland until the end of 2020. During this time, we will also conduct market research with local governments, and other stakeholders to identify further technical training needs.
