More bike parking at Queensland Rail stations

Action 1.23: Deliver bicycle parking at stations on the Queensland Rail network to support people to ride a bike as part of their journey.

Achievements

We consider the inclusion of bike parking and enclosures and racks as part of all station builds and upgrades. This includes consulting with Bicycle User Groups to help select the stations where bike parking will be most beneficial.

At November 2022, there are 40 bike parking enclosures available across the Queensland Rail network, including facilities installed at the following stations between 2020 and 2022:

• Boondall
• Morayfield
• Strathpine
• Dakabin
• Cannon Hill
• Toombul
• Ormeau
• Lawnton
• Virginia
• Oxley
• Ebbw Vale
• Carseldine
• East Ipswich.

Next steps

We are planning more bike enclosure installations so more people can ride and safely store their bicycles at Queensland Rail stations. This includes secure bike parking facilities at: 

• Auchenflower
• Sandgate
• Lindum
• Caboolture
• Birkdale.
