Achievements
Through the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program 2019–20 to 2022–23 (QTRIP), we allocated $60.8 million between 2019–20 and 2020–21 to the Active Transport Investment Program, Cycling Works Sub-Program.
This funding supported our regions across the state to deliver priority cycling routes on the Principal Cycle Network and contributed to a rolling program of projects across the 4-year QTRIP.
We delivered 24 projects between 2019–20 and 2020–21 and delivered more than 15km of active new and upgraded active transport facilities including:
- Veloway 1 Stage E in Tarragindi, Brisbane
- New England Highway Cycleway, Toowoomba to Highfields Stage 1 in Highfields, Toowoomba
- Mackay–Slade Point Road off-road shared path in Mackay
- North Ward Road, Rooney Street to Victoria Bridge shared path in Townsville.
Next steps
We will continue to fund the delivery of active transport projects on the state-controlled network through the Active Transport Invesment Program, including adding to the department pipeline of works to support the delivery of priority Principal Cycle Network routes across the state.
