Over $60 million invested in active transport infrastructure

Overview

Action 1.6: Allocate $60.8 million between 2019–20 and 2020–21 through the Active Transport Investment Program for delivery of the highest priority routes on the state-controlled portions of the principal cycle network, including projects for:

  • design and construction of cycling and supporting infrastructure
  • planning to develop a pipeline of high priority projects.

Achievements

Through the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program 2019–20 to 2022–23 (QTRIP), we allocated $60.8 million between 2019–20 and 2020–21 to the Active Transport Investment Program, Cycling Works Sub-Program.

This funding supported our regions across the state to deliver priority cycling routes on the Principal Cycle Network and contributed to a rolling program of projects across the 4-year QTRIP.

We delivered 24 projects between 2019–20 and 2020–21 and delivered more than 15km of active new and upgraded active transport facilities including:

Next steps

We will continue to fund the delivery of active transport projects on the state-controlled network through the Active Transport Invesment Program, including adding to the department pipeline of works to support the delivery of priority Principal Cycle Network routes across the state.
